Corey Sittinger is a percussionist, educator, and creative collaborator based in the Baltimore–Washington, D.C. area. Known for a versatile artistic perspective, Corey’s performance experience spans orchestral, chamber, and solo settings, with a particular affinity for multi-percussion works and jazz vibraphone. Whether performing large-scale pieces like I-Ching or navigating experimental repertoire, his musicianship is defined by flexibility and a collaborative spirit.

As an educator, Corey focuses on musicality and healthy technique, tailoring instruction to each student’s goals while building strong foundations in classical percussion, drum set, and world music. He regularly teaches private lessons and has led clinics and masterclasses throughout Maryland public schools. His teaching philosophy emphasizes injury prevention and body awareness, drawing from his studies in Alexander Technique and personal experience overcoming playing-related injuries.

Corey currently teaches at Northern Virginia Community College.

As a founding member of Matchstick Percussion, Corey is at the forefront of the new music community. Matchstick engages in commissioning, education, and performance projects, and has partnered with ensembles such as So Percussion and Sandbox Percussion to premiere new works, including a recent consortium commission by Kendall K. Williams.

Integrating his artistic background with high-level industry operations, Corey oversees logistical workflows and personnel management to ensure the seamless movement and readiness at The Marcel Group. In addition, he is a specialist in the restoration and maintenance of rare and complex instruments, including Thai gong tuning and the mechanical and electronic restoration of vintage keyboards, such as Rhodes pianos and Hammond B3 organs.
